Default 2001 intrepid alt. regulator.

Thought my alternator went out so took it out and had it tested it is fine, went to a dodge dealer and they said that the computer Ecm has a built in regulater that charged the battery, he said it was proably bad. But said that you can hook up an external regulator, anyone know the steps that i can take to do this?
Would appreciate it.

I just went through this on my wifes 99 ES 3.2,thought we were going to have to replace the computer, turned out being a bad pos(+) terminal.Check them closely, mine was broke,as the spot where the battery is in is not the most ideal place for one.If it is the regultor save a headache buy a computer, take it to the dealer to have it flashed as it wont start or run til then, was told byservice tech it dont take but 30 mins.Good luck.

Default problem fixed

Turns out the alt. tested good but it was actually bad. Found that out when trying to hook up an external regualtor.
