Default Slow to get heat

When I start up it is taking a long time to get heat. Have 126,000 and it has done this maybe 5 times. Do you thing sticky thermostat or possibly a dirty heater core? I'm just guessing?
On another note anyone else go through water pumps. I am already on my 2nd. 02 Intrepid by the way.
Cam sensor went bad last month, while trying to crank over, backfired and because my water pump leaking, allowed the timing belt to jump 2 teeth. What an expensive PIA.
