Default 2001 Intrepid R/T gas filling issue

Newbie here, I have a 2001 Intrepid R/T, I live in Wisconsin, and just the other day out of no where, everytime I try to put gas in, the gas pump kicks off, like the tank is full, but it is not. I thought maybe it was iced up or something, so I let the car sit in the shop all day to thaw out. Left work, went to the gas station, put the pump in, everything was normal to about 3 bucks worth, then the pump kicked off like the tank was full. It sure does suck trying to put gas in the car at a snails pace. LOL. About 12 minutes to put 20 bucks in.

Any thoughts to why this is happening?

Thanks in advance!

Here is what I researched about the gas tank.

The outside of a fuel tank is made of sturdy materials, and the inside often contains divider plates called baffles. Baffles help prevent fuel from moving around too much inside the tank (research this area and see if OK).

Also, the fuel tank has a raised area at its top that's designed to serve as an air space. When the tank is filled with fuel, air becomes trapped in this space and prevents the tank from being overfillled. As the fuel heats and cools inside the tank, it expands and contracts. Without an empty space, the fuel would have no place to go when it expanded. The expanding fuel would either rupture the tank or leak out through the vent. Therefore, most fuel tanks have this type of air space built into them to allow for expansion.

Aslo, a typical fuel-tank filler pipe is usually connected to a flange and O-ring, or by a rubber connector and clamps. Check these areas...
