2002, 80,000 miles 2.7L Cruise is not setting, getting a P0582 code-vacuum circuit open. Need help troubleshooting this code.
Anybody know the procedure on a P0582 DTC??

my is an 02 also, and it doesnt always set, btu i dont have an error code. wish there was more to tell you.

 

Have you checked the lines that go to the cruise control unit for leaks?

 

$24 brake switch replacement fixed this problem. 90% of the time cause is a vacuum leak I have learned, none found and brake switch then servo are next in line. Wish you could get DTC that pointed to specific components failed instead of systemwide failure codes.

 

I just acquired a 2002 Intrepid with Police Package. It does Not have a cruise control. The local car recycling guys have plenty of Intrepids with cruise controls, but they aren't sure about installation. They think there may be an issue with the computer. The speedometer still shows max 150 mph so maybe it still has the hot chip in it.
Can I take a cruise control off of one of these car, the buttons off the streeing wheel and put it on my police package. Where would I find the instructions?

My servo crapped out and I got one from a Plymouth Breeze in a junkyard for $15. Make sure you get the right connector on it!!! The first one I got out of an Intrepid had 4 flat prongs and my connector was 4 pin-type.
