Brake light issue might have caused car to not start?
This past weekend I drove my 2000 Chrysler Intrepid over to my friend's place. Prior to starting the car before I left, there was a strange clicking noise when the car started up. It seemed like there were no problems on the drive there, however the car would not start back up. We tried jumping the car but it didn't have any effect. It may have been the extremely cold weather that day, I'm not sure. I know the brake lights won't turn off when the car's in park, so that may have drained the battery. However, now the car won't even attempt to start. There's no sound from the engine when ignited, but a clicking noise sometimes accompanies ignition. What could have happened?
How cold is "cold"? if it was colder than 10 degrees and you battery went dead it probably froze... A frozen battery will not even attempt to take a charge and your average jumper cables cannot carry enough current to start a car.
I know it`s a pain, but try swapping in a good battery. I would almost bet money on your old one being frozen. Then to cure the brakelights, just look under your dash for your brakelight switch. Judging by the fact that they stay on, I would guess that it popped out of it`s holder. You can try putting it back in, but it probably won`t stay. No worries though, it is a relatively inexpensive part that is easy to install.

Almost forgot, since your battery is dead and you`re going to be completely disconnecting it, you will need to do a "quick learn"on your car... Failing to do so could result in major transmission failure. Just google quick learn for 2000 dodge intrepid. It`s a bit of a process, but worth the peace of mind.
EDIT: seems that google isn`t very helpful (I ran the search to check). I`ll try to find a link of sorts when I get to a real computer as I an on my phone right now...
