I have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid and recently got an engine light which coded a P1391 code. The code refers to the CMP sensor or the CKP sensor or both. When I brought the car into the shop the mechanic told me that since I had 104K miles on the car I should have my timing chain done which he quoted for $1,350.00 and that includes the water pump. Besides having that done I would also need to change the sensors which cost $175.00 from Dodge dealer. Now I'm at $1,525.00. Aside from these repairs I also need new struts (about $250.00), rear brakes (about $100.00), and a full tune up (about $100.00). Now the total bill sits at approx. $2000.00. My question is: Is it worth it to have all this work done on this Intrepid, which by the way is a 2.7L engine, having 104k miles on it. The reason I am leary is because I have read alot of bad press about the sludge problems with these engines, which would cost another $500 - $800 to resolve if that problem arises. Looking for advice from someone with more knowledge about the 2.7L engines & 2000 Dodge Intrepids. PLEASE HELP !!!!! THANX
