1999 Dodge intrepid 2.7L best car made, I like my car
Ive owned this car for a year its the best car ever made,
great performance, good on gas, very comfortable car too drive,
my car Ive had lil problems with it, like a misfire, oil leaks, Cam sensor problems, but its so easy too repair no need to pay a mechanic to do the repairs.
The 2.7L engine on this car is amazing because it saves gas and great performance.
Alot of people complain that the 2.7L engine came out bad, actually no its the people that own them, they dont even change the engine oil because they neglect its maintenance, If you change the engine oil every 3K your engine will last you a long time.

Oh and IDK why you'd ever need to take your car to a mechanic since you already are a professional with experience.

OK, glad to hear you are happy, It actually makes me feel a little better, let me explain.
The bad:
I too had a cam sensor issue, the car got stolen, come to find out It was on the top 10 list of stolen cars in 2003 ( why I will never know! ) Got the car back and the clockspring was ruined by the thieves that popped the steering column, had to fight the insurance company to get it fixed. Recharged the AC myself and car cooled but car can get cooler, at least I think. Oil changes pricey because after reading these threads, I decided to use Mobil 1 full synthetic every 4k and I flush the engine clean annually.
The good:
Drove the car every road trip, only bought a rental once, car very roomy, drove from NC to IL at least 5 times and yet not an issue. Have strong taste in music so I have enough room in the trunk to hold 2 12" subs in a box and a load of groceries (watch the eggs!) all this and last October, bought the car dirt cheap at an auction.
Its good to read some of these threads, I had no clue with the sludge issue but glad I did read it. I own the 2.7 and contemplated swapping for the 3.2 or 3.5 but decided to just drive what I have. (this economy is a b*tch! so got to save, save, save) Its dependable and I made mine look nice. Change my rims to 18" or 20" I dont know dont see any posts saying otherwise so we will see!
