Default Help! 02 Trep going in the shop...Misfiring/02 sensors & more!

Hi All,

I need some help. I went in for my usual oil change and ended up getting talked into getting my fuel system flushed. After that day, maybe a month or so, my check engine light came on (it would shut off and come on intermittently) and finally became hard coded. I found that I needed an 02 sensor...then I learned I had 4! So 1 by 1 I started replacing them (hubby thought it was easy enough) so he replaced the 2 upstream and also my sparkplugs - then couldnt do the ones at the Cat because he couldnt reach them. So now I am stuck between a rock and hard place. I am bringing my car into the shop with 2 - O2 sensors and a computer reading that says I am misfiring at all cylinders -- I have this awful feeling that this simple $200 job just turned into something far worse. Someone that I know mentioend a bad EFI unit -- has anyone had a similar problem? My car will sputter and stall and is blowing white smoke out the tail -- I think that it is too much gas? Someone else mentioned bad coils...how much can this possibly cost?

Thanks for any help/advice...for some reason I can't fix em...I can only tell whats wrong with them (with the exception of this time!)

I've been having a very similar problem... I have an '02 Intredid ES (3.5L), and i've been getting codes P0300 multiple cylinder misfiring and P0152 O2 sensor shorted from high input voltage (seem to be related). Its been to the dealership twice from this and they cant seem to find this electrical issue (luckily the second visit was free of charge)... it hasnt came back since the second time its been it, but i can almost feel that it'll be coming back some time. When it first started i tried replacing the coils/spark plugs and the sensor that it said was shorted but that obviously wasnt the issue. So i ended up having to put the old one in so the dealership could troubleshoot it. Are you still having problems with that at all?

Hi!

Believe it or not, my O2 sensors were bad (the ones that were JUST replaced!)- I had it in the garage for a total of 1 month. After it being at the mechanics, I took it to dodge and they had spent hours troubleshooting my computer, my electrical, everything...They decided to give it a shot and replaced my sensors, called me with the great news...I was so excited because it had cost me less money to have Dodge take care of the problem...than it did having the mechanic down the street do it. He was also going to send me to another dealership who was "gonig to give me a deal" on a new computer...the other dealership that I went to, said it was covered under warranty and it was free of charge!

Good luck!
