`98 Intrepid ES .... Please Help!
You guys were awesome before and it's time for your expertise again. I truly love my `98 Intrepid ES and want to drive it till the doors fall off, but it seems the car might not last that long. And, as you will I have no expertise in mechanics myself so any assistance you can give will be great!
I have a high pitched squealing (intermittently) when using the air conditioner or the heater in the car. The heat/air work but the high pitched squealing can be heard inside the car and for quite some distance outside the car.
I also have an issue with the brakes. Recently replaced the brake pads and now the brakes are making an even more horrific sound than they were before they were changed. Removed the tires and rechecked and everything was in place where it was supposed to be. Used the blue gel and still they squealing when braking only and it gets louder and louder as time passes.
The third problem is a leak in the radiator. I had it overheat once, let it cool down and refill it and drove 8 hours (in one stretch) with no problem. Two days later I drove it nine miles and it overheated. Now the overheating is showing on the thermostat until it is pegged and spewing liquid all over the engine and the ground. Used the liquid sealant to fill any holes in the radiator and still getting incessant leaking. I go around with 2 gallons of water in the car now because it doesn't always register that it's overheating until it's pouring out!
I love this car and want to keep it but recently I've had to replace the water pump, the timing belt for the water pump, the fan for the radiator, the tie rods, the thermostat three times. I've had to replace the crank shaft sensor, the fuel system (due to sulfur gas I got down in FL). This car has 180,000 on it. Has it reached it's limit?

If your Brake pads squeal bad, depends on the quality of your pads if you bought the cheapest most likely they will squeal and wear out.
My car would leak coolant from the radiator what I did I bought a new radiator.
What you need to do is take out your wallet and buy a new radiator.
Thanks, but I was actually wondering, with all the problems I've had recently and seemingly continually whether or not the car is on its last miles. If it's not being too nosey, what year is yours and what's your mileage? I don't have the money to continue repairing this vehicle on what has become a regular basis.

if you give it bad maintenance most likely the car will start to give problems.
Mine is Dodge Intrepid 1999 with 232K high miles but its all worth it,
yes Ive had a problems here and there but its taken care of, I make
sure that everything is working within specs.
Unbelievable that I had to replace the engine in my car at only 183,000 miles. That is truly disgraceful. My husband has a toyota that just passed 200,000 and is zipping right along and it's ten years older than my car!
Such a shame the quality of a product has dropped so low!
