Default p0750 problems

Im getting some help on other forums but im at a sticking point..

I have a 98 dodge inrepid es with autostick
high milage 187k

Other day the car went into limp mode with p0750

took it to the tranny shop and they said it needed a new shift solenoid.

I purchased one online and did the swap myself. Im pretty car savy so this was no problem. I also changed input/output sensors.

refilled with atf+4 fluid

relfashed computer and took it for a drive. (did not do quick learn but dont really need it that badly)

5 miles down road it jumps back into limp mode. p0750

A friend suggested swapping out tcm's. I grabbed a good one from a 2000 trep.... same thing p0750

Now im down to checking the wires...

I have gotten a hold of the fsm. Im pretty competent in ohming out wires but here is the problem..

the tcm harnes was easy to get off. but the solenoid connector on top of the passenger side of tranny is impossible to get to.

I also can not see where the connector harness goes. Im told it goes up the fire wall. But i removed the cowl and see NO harness on firewall going down to tranny...
I also cannot locate the Tranny ground strap. Most the ground straps in the engine look very dirty, some green..

Also i read to check splice 114. this is the splice from pcm to tcm to solenoid that provides all power... only problem is splice 114 is not there. i Have opened up the wire loom below ecu to tcm right where it shows the location of it. I see No shrink wrapped splices or red wires...

Im at a loss right now and about to juts call it quits and take it to a shop. I think this might be electrical and not the tranny itself..

any thoughts or ideas?

quick recap

98 es autostick
20-30mph very heavy hesitation, studder (tranny guys said this is the car trying to go into limp mode)
40-20mph hesitates studders through shifts

when come to a stop sometimes it shudders like it wants to die
only engine code coming up is p0750 shift solenoid a malfunction

i know the possible causes out of the fsm
including short to ground
voltage to ground
bad solenoid
bad circuit

i have changed solenoind and input output sensors and tcm... what else could it be?

I have opened the wire loom and cant find splice 114, i also cannot trace the loom past the brake master cylinder... it only goes to the wipers and across the steering column to some connector in the wall of the passenger shock tower...

any thoughts before i throw in the towel and swap in a 2.7 liter tranny to my 3.2 engine since i can get them cheap.

i wanna ohm out the harness to the solenoid connector buti cant even get to the connector, i can barely see it much less get my hand anywhere near it

update for anyone having same problems..

i traced the harness, it goes from tcm/pcm towards the driver side firewall. it then loops up over the brake master cylinder.. breaks off to couple things like wipers and some odd sensor on opposite side passenger shock tower.... but it also goes down the other side of the brake master cylinder

mine then 'FLOATED" across the top of the tie rod. there where two large harness connectors in this area. it then continues to the backside of the engine and down to tranny.

where it was floating over the tie rod the wires had been eaten away!! all from the dumb placement of these wires. so my L/R control wire (blue) was eaten down to bare wire and rubbing on the tie rod. also my brown od solenoid wire was eaten bare.. Im hoping this was the reason for the constant 750 codes..

i also hope these shorts did not screw up my new solenoid pack

I noticed this same thing on my Intrepid when I pulled the engine. The trans harness was rubbing the driver side tie rod. Seems to be a common problem which IS an engineering/production issue. I'm going to tie the harness out of harms way when/if I get the engine put back together.
