More Intrepid problems
Alright I got a 2.7L Intrepid with a whole mess of issues:
1. Car tops out at 3,000 RPMs
2. Door locks screech when you lock them
3. Passenger door wont lock unless you manually press it and sometimes the driver door will lock itself when you let go of the door handle
4. Dent in driver quarter and I need some help describing how to fix it
5. I recently saw red fluid in the driveway (transmission fluid) and when I checked the fluid levels it was full but the engine oil is running low (maybe it is burning oil because it stutters at 3,000?)
6. The car is slow to start (takes a good 5-8 sec to start)
7. Drivers seat lever to move it back and forth wont work unless you go under the seat and look for the little lever and pull it that way. Is there anyway to fix it?
Yeah this car has a lot of issues but anyone got some advice for me???

Best advice is get a new car.
1. in gear on the highway it only hits 3000 rpm? It won't accelerate past that point?
2. disconnect fuse or replace motors.
3.replace lock motors
4. Dent, how I fix it is to remove the panel and install a new panel then paint to match.
5. transmission fluid has nothing to do with engine burning. define stutters! Find source of leak and repair!
6. 5-8 seconds is fine. maybe install a new fuel pump
7. Yes there is a way to fix it. remove the seat and repair what ever is causing the problem

2. Could it really be the fuse? I thought that if the fuse was blown then it wouldnt work at all.
3. I guess I will pick up a set from U-pull it
4. Got some instructions on how to remove it? I was planning on pulling the wheel well out because it is a dent from a foot so it would be easy to pop out.
5. Actually rechecked oil and tranny fluid while engine was running and oil is fine but tranny fluid is really low. Could this be the source of it not going past 3,000 RPM? How many quarts of fluid do I need to put in and how could I find the source of the leak?
6. That's the fuel pump? I thought it was the starter but I dont know too much about cars.
7. So if its the cable how could I reconnect it?
1. Replace fuel pump, computer or engine. But you'll need someone with knowledge to problem solve this in person.
2. disconnect fuse and the noise will be gone (locks wont work but the noise won't bother you anymore)
3. You should worry about #1 before you spend another penny on the car.
4. No 2 dents are ever the same, so quoting an exact procedure for your particular dent is impossible without a live assesment. You could just get a can of Bondo and fill it in.
5. You should fill the trans to correct level with correct fluid then find the leak and solve that problem.
6. Well based on what you described I could only best guess it's a fuel pump. See if it takes 5-8 seconds for it to start, I'm assuming the starter is actually cranking. I guess it just goes to show I'm not too smart at guessing what you are implying as to your problem.
7. What cable? I didn't see where you said anything about a cable? I guess if you had to reconnect a cable, you'd put the cable back in the hole where it came out. I probably would use a newly invented tool known as a needlenose pliers.

4. It's your normal old dent that comes from a size 12 show when it makes contact with your car. I will try and get a picture taken if you need it tomorrow.
5. Do you know what the right fluid and fluid level is? If not I could try doing some research.
6. It would be alot easier if I knew how to upload videos to show the problems but alas I do not have that knowledge and my computer wont let me make a youtube account to load it up (I could try using my digital camera tomorrow).
7. Needle-nose pliers??? What are those??? I guess I will have to look again to see what I am even talking about.
lol, alright thanks for all your help. I guess I will take it into Autozone after school tomorrow for their free diagnosing.

5. I think there's this new device recently added to cars called a transmission fluid level indicator. You might have one. Owners manuals are a wonderful resource for these questions. If you don't have one, try finding one like at your local dealer.
6. What is youtube? I never heard of that.
7. I'm not sure but I hear they are the neatest new tool. I'm looking at finding a specific one for myself.

5. Looked through it and couldnt find one.
6. Youtube is Youtube
7. I think I found one in my toolbox yesterday
I think I may have figured out what is wrong with the car by looking through the maintenence section of my owners manual! I have narrowed it down to being a faulty fuel filter and old or low amount of transmission fluid.
