Thumbs down Hazard 20A Fuse Blowing

Hi.

I am trying to get my 2000 Dodge Intrepid fixed. Here's what happened & what we've been able to figure out.

When I was driving, I had turned on the turn signal to pull over. Then somehow I hit the hazard button. After that, my turn signals & hazards did not work.

I bought a new flasher from both AutoZone & Napa. (EP-27) The 20A fuse in the PDC, 0 position, would blow. The 10A fuse inside was fine.

We replaced both the positive & negative cables from the battery to the jumper posts & cleaned the posts. We also replaced the fusible link coming from the positive cable. We even bought a new switch for the turn signals, wipers, etc.

After that did not fix the problem, I did a search of the car. Checked all the grounds for the lights & they were clean & secure. Next we checked all light bulbs. I THOUGHT I found it! There were 2 bulbs that were burnt / 1 in each tail light. I don't know what their name is, but they are little bulbs on the outer edge of the tail lights & about the size of a pinky.

So then, I put everything back together & put in the new relay from AutoZone. Whamo! THE BLINKERS WORKED. The I tried the hazards ....
As soon as I pushed the hazard switch the 20A fuse blew.

I did read a thread somewhere that Autozone & Napa flashers are not compatible with this car & that the same scenario would occur - that when the hazard switch is pushed it will blow the 20A fuse in the PDC. Is that really true & I need to buy the OEM flasher? Any help would be appreciated.

I would think some of the light bulbs are overloading the Circuit. Pull them out and read the wattage written on the bulb. replace the one that is Higher than another. If they are all the same.
Buy a pack of 20A fuse, Pull out ur Turn signal bulb one by one, see which one you pull out does NOT blow the fuse. out of ur 4 turn signal bulb.
If Fuse still blows with ALL turn signal bulb removed, I would say you got a bad Hazard switch or a wire shorted out somewhere.

Tho, it could be the Flasher relay tho, But if all Flasher including ur old one are doing the exact same thing, then I doubt it is the falsher.
