alternator
hello new to yalls forum need help replacin alternator on my moms 2004 intrepid 2.7 liter. how do u get it out i can see it on bottom drivers side but looks like i need to remove the power steering pump??? is this correct?? or is there another way to get it out of the car ???? any help would be much appreciated thanks in advance
Haha,
No need to pull the power steering pump. 3 bolts hold the alternator in. 13mm I think. You can get to them from the front. There is a wiring plug on the back and a 10mm nut that holds the hot wire on. I just pulled the alternator last night but we have the raditor out. It may be difficult with the raditor still in the car.
Good luck!

Danny,
I have a problem with my charging system. i have replace the alternator and the pcm and the battery still will not charge. i put my meter the the battery and i'm only getting 11 too 10 volts. what would be the next step or what do you advise?

Put your meter (I assume you mean a multi-meter/volt ohm meter) on the battery with the engine not running then again with the engine running. What do you read with the engine off? What do read with the engine running? If no change, I suspect one of 3 things:
1) the hot wire on the back of the alternator (under the 10mm nut) is not connected
2) there is a break in the hot wire
3) the alternator is bad
If you get a higher reading with the engine running, I suspect the battery is bad.
It's really hard to diagnose without being there.
Post back with the above answers and I will try to work through them.
Danny
