My sending unit was leaking, so I changed it, and the oil and filter. However I put 10/30 in it, and now the oil light comes on, only when the car is stopped, when I accelerate, the light turns off. Any thoughts or ideas? It runs fine and smooth, the only issue is the light coming on. HELP!!!

 

I had the same problem. Mine was a faulty "new" sending unit.

 

Just as an FYI on this old thread. I recently bought an 02 Intrepid SE and within the first week my oil light started to flicker at hot idle. Did an oil change with new sender unit but light still flickers. Drilled a 1/16" vent hole at the base of the plastic on the sender unit and problem solved. Somehow venting the connection is the solution.

Can you possibly post a picture to show what the connector looks like. I'm not sure where to drill the hole. I want to try drilling the hole before I purchase a new oil sending unit.

Well the sensor is installed, but on the plastic connection side I drilled a 1/16" hole close as possible towards the base of the connection to vent that space. You will be wondering how can venting the connection solve the problem, well so do I.
