1998 dodge intrepid engine light dtc p1687 p1695
I have a 1998 Dodge Intrepid, the engine light came on and the spedometer and tacometer will not work. I took it to the mechanic and they put it on the computer and it came back with codes P1687 and P1695. I replaced the cluster and took it for a test drive and it got a momentary power surge but still would not work. Any ideas?????
Am having the same exact problem gauges possessed only fuel gauge working and the Anti-Theft system locking me out after three starts (Have to reset PCM each time) (red light on dash stays lit after 30 sec) getting the dreaded P1698 1687 and 1695 Error codes.
Did you ever solve your problem??

I have been working with a mechanic for almost two months. It started with emissions sensors reading high and low voltage ran a new ground to bypass the pcm and hard ground it to the block. That solved the emissions issues. So check the ground if all the codes are reading from the same wiring loop. I now have multiple misfire codes and surging and also have to reset pcm to get it to run right for about a hundred miles. I have a fuse that wiggles louse that was only effecting the blinkers until I took a trip and the transmission stopped working on the freeway, got the 1698 code. The mechanic found that the tcm is also wired into that fuse port. So check that fuse might not be completely blown but shorted. However, the latest is the blinkers stopped working and got the 1698 code reset the pcm and the blinkers started working so we have resorted to replacing the pcm. Tech service we are referred to said these cars are notorious for wiring and pcm problems related to bad grounds. I will try to remember to get back to this thread and let you know if replacing the pcm worked. Good Luck.
