New to Dodge Forum and need some help
I am new on here, my name is Carol and am trying to help out a neighbor who can't afford to have a mechanic look at her car. 2002 Dodge Intrepid The OBD is showing two codes:
PO442- Evap Leak
P0700 - Trans Control
Any help on troubleshooting these codes would be appreciated.
I have fixed sensors and brakes on my own car but no nothing about the Dodge Intrepid so pictures or repair manual pages would be helpful for me to locate where these things are on her car.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Welcome aboard vtcarol50! Stay tuned - a Technician (or member) will jump in shortly to provide a possible solution. In the meantime, don't forget to browse Sub-Forums: Intrepid for stuff related to your friends ride.
the P0442 code is an evaporative emissions code. Check the gas cap make sure it's on tight and that the gasket is not deformed, cracked, etc. If that's ok, it's probably the NVLD (or leak detection pump mounted on top of the fuel tank) that's bad. It's actually quite common for the NVLD pump to go bad.
P0700, you'll need to go to a shop or have a very expensive scanner that can scan the transmission control module and find out what's going on. Just out of curiousity, is the car stuck in one gear while driving or does it shift through all the gears? Another common problem is the output speed sensor on the back of the transmission that goes bad. When that happens, the transmission will into limp mode where you'll have only 2nd gear and reverse.
