Check Engine Light came on after MPI & Flushing
I have a 1999 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.2 cyl. We bought this car from a private dealership with 132k miles. Car came with no check engine light when we first bought it but needed alignment of wheel and rotation of tires. We went to get the tires done at a dodge dealership and the associate came back and told us there was a leak and it needed to have a complete flush so they did a fluid-automatic transmission, filter-pkg transmission oil flush, sealer-rtv, and cleaner-brake-aerosole. To be honest I don't know much about cars and this was a first purchase but decided to get the flush job just to be safe. Driving it out of the dealership, the car is great, runs smoother, steering wheel no longer vibrates as much because of the rotation, but while on the highway, the check engine light comes on. I don't see why it would have the light on now when it just got a nice flush and didnt have one prior to the flush. Did we get scammed? We watched the car the whole time and didn't seem to be a fishy situation but I'm baffled. We already had problems passing the NYS inspection because we needed to the cars computer to relearn so we were driving it around to get the 50-80 miles on it but now it seems we need to reset the battery. Is this something common or something has to be done? I don't want to pay anymore for something if all they found was the need to flush and put the sealer on. Thank you so much!
