strong smell of gas from 2004 intrepid
Hey new to Dodge Forum
I have a 2004 Dodge intrepid which has been a pretty dependable car.
The problem I'm having now is a strong gas odor that seems to be coming from the back top of the engine (2.7 liter) There has been no leaking gas under the car. Vehicle has always fired up right away but lately has to crank a little before it starts. Car runs fine but gas odor has gotten very strong. Car has just over 100,000 miles.
Any help would be great.

Turns out there was a small pin hole leaking gas in the line coming up to the fuel rails. The line is metal but then changes to plastic just behind the engine. There is a 90 degree plastic fitting and the pinhole was right below the 90. What a pain in the but. I had to disconnect the fuel line and drop it down onto the floor. I ended up replacing it with high presser rubber hose with clamps on both ends. Then had to put everything back together. The smell is gone and the car fires right up again. About a $20 fix.
