1998 2.7 Overheating
I'm sure ya'll have heard this time and time again....
My car overheated two times yesterday. It went to my job about 10 miles away just fine, but when I took a 2 mile trip about 15 mins later, it overheated. Let it cool off, put some water in it (probably a mistake?), and limped it back to work. The second time it overheated, the temp gauge didn't even tell me. It was still in the lower-middle zone, but steaming from the hood. Today I went and got a pressure tester, hooked it up, and I got it to about the 13psi range (supposed to be 16) before it wouldn't hold and steadily went down.
-I originally thought that it was the thermostat, but I went ahead with the pressure tester because I didn't want to do all that work with getting to the bottom of the car to find that it wasn't the problem.
-I'm worried that a head gasket is blown. I didn't see anything leaking nor any wet spots under the car when I did the test.
So.....what's the course of action I should take to find out for sure what's wrong?
