Default Gift of a 2002 Dodge Intrepid

My son is going to give me a 2002 Dodge Intrepid 2.7. It has been drove will running hot. I now know that the water pump, timing Chains, and Head Gaskets all need replaced. The car has about 105,000 miles on it. My question is will it be worth putting the money in it to get it running?

Thanks
Dwayne

It's hard to say without working with it first hand. If it needs all of that, you might want to see how much converting this to a 3.2L or 3.5L V6 would cost. If it has been running hot, it is possible that it is suffering from oil sludge problems. Talk to your mechanic is the best advice I have otherwise. The 2.7L is the worst engine Chrysler has ever made, the 3.2L & 3.5L are MUCH better engines. If you decide to fix it, use synthetic oil ONLY.
