Default re-timing 2002 dodge intrepid 3.5 liter after broken belt need help**

guys i need help. i have a 2002 dodge intrepid 3.5 liter second generation v6. the tensioner bearing failed; sheared teeth on belt. purchased kit with belt, water pump, and new pulley for tensioner. i tried lining up the timing marks on the cams and the crank 3 times... no start and no compression on all 6 cylinders. is the procedure to time the engine after the belt breaks the same as before the belt breaks? i know that #1 piston has to be at top dead center of the compression stroke with both intake and exhaust valves closed. any input is greatly apreciated thanks ahead of time.

If this is an interference engine you likely have bent valves-I don't know if it is or not-

Just checked my Autodata timing belt book_the 3.2 & 3.5 engines are Interference Engines in which piston to valve contact is very likely should a belt bust-

thanks for getting back to me. i am a newby here! i removed the odd side valve cover and understand i could have bent valves. but did not see any valves noticably bent or sticking open. i also looked down the intake runner and did not see any. i still have to pull the even side valve cover off to inspect that side. at this point i know it is not timed right because when i turn it over by hand the valves do not open at the right time in relation to the piston position.
