Default Speaker problems please help

I have a 1999 dodge intrepid es/se? and blew each one of my speakers one by one except the rear driver side speaker. I called the dealer and they want too much money. they said I have a 7 speaker system. The money they want is way two expensive. And all they can tell me is the part numbers and the size. I was told by a friend to ask for the watts and ohms of the speakers, and they couldn't tell me this. I don't care about my car bumping with sound, I just want my speakers to work like they should. I am looking for the cheapest easiest way to go about my problem, and not have to re-wire anything. It looks like I need front door 6.5" speakers and rear 6x9's. These are infinity speakers that I was told run on a factory amp that I cant find the specs for at all. Can you please help me.

Please respond to my personal email address at mfleis1@yahoo.com

Thanks

Mark

The other 3 speakers in your system are 2.5 inch speakers, and that's not a standard size. Your only two options are to get Dodge factory speakers, either from your dealer or a junkyard, or make a custom bracket and put in 1 inch tweeters or something.

Thanks SexyinTrepid,

Ok I just took a gamble and replaced my front door 6.5's yesterday. i needed a converter to attatch the speakers and fabricated the bracket to fit the spot. It was a lot easier than i anticipated, and to my suprise they sound great. Now that I replaced the Fronts I noticed the Tweeters are not blown, but I was thinking of thinking to replace them later. Will the sound be better with 1.5's? Also the next thing I will do is replace the 6x9's, hopefully tonight or tomorrow, but I haven't even looked at how to take them out yet. Would you happen to know this so that I don't break nothing. I was thinking of pulling down the rear back seats instead of going through the trunk, is this right?.

From the service manual:

SPEAKER REMOVAL - REAR SHELF
(1) Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
(2) Remove the rear shelf trim panel (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/REAR SHELF TRIM PANEL - REMOVAL).
(3) Remove four retaining screws.
(4) Remove speaker and disconnect wire connector.
REAR SHELF TRIM PANEL - REMOVAL
(1) Remove seat cushion and back.
(2) Remove quarter trim lower and upper trim panels.
(3) Remove center seat belt anchor bolt.
(4) Remove push pin fasteners.
(5) Pull rear shelf trim panel away from rear glass to disengage.
(6) Disengage CHMSL wire if equipped.
(7) Feed center seat belt and bezel through rear shelf trim panel.
(8) Remove rear shelf trim panel from vehicle.
This part sounds more complicated than I think it should be. My intrepid has the 60/40 folding rear seat, so I would assume that if your case is the same, you could skip step 1. In any case, let us know how it goes!

SexyIntrepid,

thanks for your reply, it will prove most helpfull. I'm a bit confused on what each description is such as: rear shelf trim panel, quarter trim lower and upper trim panel, center seat belt anchor bolt(what does this do when I remove it), CHMSL wire. These things I just don't know what they are. Also when I looked behind the back seats, I noticed these metal clips, do I just prye them up to remove them?

thanks,

Mark
