Default BROKEN TENSIONER PULLY,2000 INTREPID

Has anyone else had this happen? My sister has a 2000 Intrepid with the 2.7L. While she was driving the tensioner pully's bracket snapped and rubbed through her passenger side head. the bracket was not bent, it originally broke from the square hole on the bracket up , and was held by the smaller section below the square hole(app1/4-1/2 inch). It just gave away 2 days ago. The only reason why I could see this happening was that the metal bracket was too thin for all that tension. if anyone has had this happen please get back to me. If it hasnt happened to you, check your tensioner so it doesnt happen. So far the quote to have the job done is over $1300. Thank you
