Starting problems
Since the cold weather started I have been having problems with my engine turning over. Sometimes it does and sometimes it does not, as if the battery is dead. I put a starter pack on it and it starts right up. The confusing part is I can shut it off right away and then start it back up with no problem. It does not sound like a parasitic loss. Kinda sounds like an impedence problem. Does anybody have any tips? Have not had a chance to put an altemeter to the battery yet.
I had the same problem with my 97. My battery was week and I got a pro-rate on it so I bought one, however my starter was drawing too many amps also. This may have accounted for the weak battery. Anyway, I also changed it and now when I turn the key, it sounds like I have weak compression!!! What I mean to say is it turns so fast and hard, it's like I don’t have an engine attached to the starting system!
PS I may have an older 1st gen, but it only has < 80K miles on it, so the compression is fine. I was just speaking metaphorically!
