Hey all, I have codes p0700 and p0580 on my 2004 Intrepid. Are these serious problems or simple fixes? Can I fix it myself? and how? Thanks.

 

The 580 is "P0580 Cruise Control Related Malfunction”The 700 is "P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction". The 580 could be because of the TCM issue. The TCM issue is not good though. It is the computer that runs the transmission. Unfortunately, even if it is a simple computer change, you can't do it. The new TCM requires a process called a "quick learn procedure" This is where the computer is "tuned" to your car. To accomplish this procedure you require the use of a DRB scan tool with the scan tool cartridge in it. This tool costs about $6,000 new (you can get a used one on e-bay for about $3,000). I believe you need to bring the car to a shop before a total fail occurs.
