Head gasket change for a shade tree mech.
My friend's '99 Dodge Intrepid has a blown head gasket(water in the oil) and I was wondering if there are any special tools needed for this job? I've rebuilt Air cooled VW engines before and I assisted in changing the head on a '95 Toyota Cellica.
I'll repost the exact engine when I find out.

I can tell you for a 97 series (3.5 or 3.2), but there is a copy of the 2000 with the 2.7 at the top of the 2nd gen fourm (titeled the holy grail). This canwill give you a bit of an overview... if while doing your research and/or while doing the job, you want to verify a tool part number for the 3.2, 3.5 engine, let me know, and I will post it (ie you may find you need to replace a crankseal while in there: tool PN 6341A)
I'd recomend these two tools though, a puller and insert. When I changed my timming belt (along with the water pump and tensioner), I tried lots of pullers to get the crank pully off (you will need to pull to remove the cover and loosen the belt, I'd also change these items while in there). I ended up ordering the one Dodge specifies, it has a large spread for a short, tight access puller. See the below link for details.
