My mom lives on a hill and when she has to back up to park the car shudders quite a bit. On the level there is almost no shudder at all. The car has the 3-speed auto trans. in it. Would this mean there might be a torque converter problem?

 

It sounds like the band is slipping in reverse. The trans may need to be servesed
