I'm running full synthetic 5w-30 in a 2000 neon with 24000 miles. Since I've had the car you can hear vavle ticking and it really bothers me. Its hard to look good in a car with that constant "tick,tick,tick,tick"....... Anybody know a solution to this problem? Any help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks!

 

I think mine does it too.

 

No solution to the tick, the 15 year old 2.0 design is just a loud engine with lots of valvetrain noise and wierd noises in general....

 

I put a quart of lucas, it seems to quiet them a little, but not much

 

FWIW I read Penzoil Platinum 10-30 is suppose to be a very good oil for valvetrain wear and noise over at bobistheoilguy.com(also very shear stable). I`m putting that in my daughters 01 after a couple Auto-RX rinses I`m doing now.

 

run 5-20w, its still ticks but not nearly as bad
