RE: time for new tires
I actually just ordered the Kumho ECSTA AST from tirerack.com, for the price and getting them mounted/balanced from a buddy that I know for $10 a piece, I couldn't go wrong. They're already on and I LOVE THEM! Great in the rain, it rained yesterday and weren't as slippery as the Toyos I had before and aren't noisy or anything. With the one year warranty, and the price, I don't think you can beat this tire! It's got a mean tread!

RE: time for new tires
Out of the choices you gave me...I'd probably go with the yoko avs 100. If you enjoy driving your car I wouldn't suggest doing burnouts, or at least not very much. I do them rarely and when I do it is short lived only because I fear throwing the diff pin mostly. No I don't have personal experience blowing up trannys, but my buddy with his first gen has blown up 3 of them. I don't really know how durable 2gen tranny's are compared to 1gens, but I've read boatloads of stories about people blowing up trannys doing burnouts. When I replace my kumho supra 711s, I think I'm going with falken azenis rt-215s I think they are. And I am goin with 215/40/17 instead of the 205/40/17 that i have now so I have a tad more sidewall.
