Engine Reliability Mods for Turbo
I may be getting an 01 Motorsport and I'm new to the neon as far as modifications go. I'm just looking to learn some things, following my curiosity...
If I go turbo down the line...
I'm looking for a reliable & fun amount of power, maybe 250 - 280WHP. How much boost would I need to run in general for this. What boost to you turbo guys run on the street? How do the factory engine components stand up to boost? This car will also be a daily driver so it needs to remain reliable. It has ~70k miles on it. I'd really like to avoid tearing down the whole engine, but I'm up for mods that dont require this - valvetrain modification, porting, etc. However, If a teardown is really necessary for reliability, just tell me to suck it up. Thanks in advance.

srt swap, exhaust, WG. you're there
if not and you still want that power level, you will have to build to motor if you want complete soundness in its reliablitiy. you cannot just ask "what boost" you need to run, you need to take comp ratio, head flow, turbo size, fuel delivery to calculate a theoretical hp. with a built motor and a 16g that power is obtainable around 15lbs. if you go with the tiny srt4 Td04HR, you'll need to run a little more, around 17-20lbs.
