Default smelly a/c

2002 neon SXT - the a/c smells when it is started, even when using the recirculate mode. Any ideas on how to track down the smell?

start you car in the driveway, put the a/c on full blast, with the thing on taking in new air, not recirculating, leave the windows open if you want, and let it go full blast for like 20 min. if that doesnt work, you might need to clean out the whole system where it takes in air which is crazy expensive, and a pain in the *** to do, so just spray the place where it takes in air with some lysol when its sucking in air for a while, and it should be good. just remember to keep the a/c on when its sucking in the lysol and for a bit after

yea lysol should work.... if it smells and isn't blowing very cold then you need to recharge your AC system.... so check if it is blowing as cold as it should be.....
