Default cluster compatibility

Hello,

I have a quick question (I hope). I have a neon 05 SE (the basic version) and I think I found a cluster with a tach in it. However, I'm not sure yet what neon is it; is it 1st or 2nd gen, or is it SXT or SRT.
My question is, should all of them fit or there could be some incompatibility.

Also, long tmie ago I read that at the dealership, they could match the miles of my old cluster with the new one.

Thanks a lot!

Edit: Ohh, and a last thing. Is $50 for a cluster a good deal?

1st gen clusters won't work in a 2nd gen or vice versa. Don't know much about 2nd gen compatibililty between the 00-05 years, but I think you can swap them in and out.

The only Neon that did not come with a tach are the SE/ES and equivelent from 00-05. If its a 1st Gen cluster, you cant put it into your 2nd Gen, but if the cluster is from any year 2nd Gen Neon (00-05) it will plug and play without any issues. Even though your Neon didnt come with a tach, its still wired to support the tach. As far as mileage, the dealers cant do it themselves, they have to ship the clusters out to an independent company and they flash the clusters...however, its very unlikely you will find any dealership that will do this for you. Beyond that, there is currently no known way to switch mileage between two 2nd Gen clusters...

there is probably a couple of posts over the last year about this swap... it's real easy 'plug and play' basically..
I have the same model, an SE and got my SXT tach-cluster off e-bay for around $40... only took me like 15 to 20 minutes to swap and it works perfectly.
There were alot of posts about the dealer thing and I beleive no one ever got any dealer to change the mileage... best thing to do is just try to find one with mileage close to yours.

( if I can find the post about mine, I'll try to post the link cuz there is even a how to guide in it on how to remove the dash parts)
