Default The final answer on rims/tires? possible sticky?

I've read so many posts on rims and tires, and I looked up top... was wondering if we could maybe have a sticky with the all and all answer on what rims and tires will fit a non-SRT Neon.

I keep reading about guys that say why don't my rims fit... will SRT rims fit without changing to SRT struts and/or springs...how big...how wide...

so if no sticky,.....

Since the most popular size for aftermatket rims seems to be 17

what is the recommended offset without changing suspension?_____

What is the right tire size that will fit without changing suspension?_____

Just want to be able to shop for a wheel and tire package deal, posssibly on-line or e-bay, and be able to get it shipped to the door, open up, and just put the things on without having to worry about rubbing/not fitting!

My momo's are 17's the offset is +35 and tires are 205/ 40's. They fit the stock suspension fine.

www.EdgeRacing.com

They sell close to about a 100 rim options for for the Dodge Neon 17" wheels. The site already gives you the information on the wheels by using the information you put in for your car.

The tire size you'll be looking at will be 17x7. Anything larger and you have tolook at dealing with rubbing and suspension changes. With a 17" wheel, the standard size of tire will be 205/40/17. These will bolt up directly with no issues.

EdgeRacing ships directly to your front door, anda set of rims and tires can be had for less then $800 delivered, depending on the wheels. I purchased a set for my Stratus R/T coupe for around $750. Midnight, a site moderator and Neon owner, got a set for his car for about $690. This INCLUDED delivery charges.

Look them up and see what they have to offer. Worst case, is you get the info you need and apply it elsewhere. Good luck!

a big +1!!

You could also use tirerack.com as they offer the same thing. You can look at pretty much any wheel with: 40mm (or very close) offset, 5-100 bolt pattern wheel.

As far as offset goes, your generally safe if the offset is between 35mm and 45mm. Anything below or above that will not work. I would suggest something in the 38mm-42mm range though just to be safe...the right tire size so you dont have to switch out stock struts is 17x7 with 205-40-17 if your going to take it safe.

That's iffy, but am (pretty soon) going to gather a lot of info and put together a huge FAQ thread.

thanx for all the info!..just what I was looking for....

I noticed that Discount Tire advertises in the car mags, wondered if the prices were the same if I went to the store...I guess they pretty much are.
I talked to a guy there and he gave a price, with mounting, sale and basically out the door mounted..of about $728 for 4 16 inch KMC "Hot Wheels redline"style, black 5 spokes with chrome lip and tires. Just cant swing the money like that right now. [&o]

Discount tire is currently offering 0% interest for like 6-12 months on their Discount Tire Card, so why not look into seeing if you qualify for one? Make the minimum payments for a few months and try and bust your butt to make the money....

Just a thought...

However, I have to say this....for the price of those KMC wheels, you could easily get a 17" wheel and tire....

I honestly have to like 16's on neons far more than 17's.
