One of my friends has an wrx wagon. 2.0L turbo with Cobb access port, headers, and exhaust. He just recently dynoedhis car in colorado and put down 243whp. I have other friends with sti's and cobb access port. They only dynoed 250ish whp.The sti and wrx are nice cars but there not all there cracked up to be. A stock wrx only puts 177 to the wheels. Not that you cant get 400-500 hp itll take somework. Srt4 isa nice car also. The srt mightput more hp to the wheels but not much more than the wrx. I agree about drivers and youve got to consider the awd.

I love the stis especalliy the one Im lookin at has massive engine mods and very well taken care of and has some slight show mods took 2nd place last yr and a carshow I was at in the import class. I like the awd part of it also I can work with that at the track. For 25 grand well worth the money.

Back to Neons, anyone have a guesstimate what a 2004 SXT 5-spd would rate at the wheels, if it did a 15.880 in the 1/4-mile?
You run 15.8 is the 1/4? Cause if you did thats pretty damn good for almost no mods. I've hit 16.0 probably 6 times, trappin at about 86-88. I haven't been to the track in almost 2 years. Booooo. With what I am building right now I should be talking about high 13s/low 14s. As for hp estimate...I have no idea. Probably somewhere between 110-120whp. Airwolf...what kind of massive mods are you talking about. I know a thing or two about subarus. My friend had an 02 that I worked on. Did turboback exhaust, up pipe, header, cai, turbo xs computer (whatever its called, I can't remember was long time ago). Had it dynoed and it didn't even break 200whp. On the track the fastest I ever saw it run was 13.4. I drove it a few times on the street but never on the track. Definitely had a ton more go then my car does.

before my 03 was turbo i ran a 15.9 with 120whp and 126wtq

also ran a 15.8 with a pretty much stock 1st gen... egr block off / ATX TB / weight redux no dyno on the 1st gen but a good estimate would be around 108-110whp

Cant really compare 1st Gen to 2nd Gen in the power to 1/4 area since they are lighter anyways...

One guy I went to school with had a 1st Gen N/A 2.4 swap, with Crane 16's, a 3.94 R/T tranny, and weight reduction and that thing was in the low 14's high 13's easy. I wish 2nd Gens were like that.

I think the new wrx's look awful....while the new lancers (which i used to hate with a passion) look awesome...
The new Lancers are built on the same platform as the Dodge Caliber... food for thought when it comes to comparing the new Evo with the Caliber SRT4... it will be interesting to see how they differ from each other, if at all.

15.880, trapped at 89.2 mph to be exact. That was the best pull of the day (sun went down too, cooler air temp)... what really excited me was that I pulled a 0.502 light off the tree (not a pro tree), so I wish I was bracket racing that day. My other times that day were around 16.05 to 16.15, all in the 87-88 mph range. I think what helped me the most was my launches though... I went around 9 times that day, and each time figured out how to improve my launches off the line. As the tree staged itself, I would rev up to about 4500 rpm, then right as I dumped the clutch I would floor it... the track was so sticky that my wheels would just chirp a little bit and hook up RIGHT AWAY... [sm=escape.gif]so itlaunched pretty good off the line. I wish I still had the slip to recall what my 60-foot times were, but I still say the reason I did so well that day was a sticky track with great launches... not from outstanding horsepower. I occasionally launch the same way on the street (especially now with the stickier tires), and it seems to jump pretty well for me. But like some people in here have said, a lot of times it depends on the driver. If you take the time to study your car while driving it and learn how to push it to it's limits, that can make the difference in a few extra performance points on the street or strip.
