Engine Knocks!!! Is this serious???
Ok, here is the deal. I have an '05 SXT (ATX) with 25K miles and recently I noticed that when the car is either in neutral or park and I rev the engine (just by holding like two or three seconds) to at least 4000 RPM it will gently throttle down as usual but at the end somewhere around 2500 to 1500 RPM I hear a distinct muffled knock comming from the engine. It will be significant at first but then muffle out as the RPMS drop. I really dont know ecxacly where the knock is comming from but I am beginning to worry. Could it be timing belt that got streched or is the timing wrong? I have never come across anything like this. I do floor it now and then and accelerate hard at times. But so far I havent had any problems with the car... Could anyone give me a heads up on what it might be. I am affraid something bad is comming my way if I dont listen to the knock.
Any help is kindly appreciated. Thank You ahead of time.

Mine's doing the same thing.... and it makes me worried. I cant get over 3.5 thousand RPMs withoutthe engine sounding like a a dryer with a pair of golf spikesin it. I took off my CAI and put back on the stock snorkel to try to hear it better, andnow its 10 times more appearent!
It almost sounds like a piston misfire or something? Or maybe something with the spark plugs? Oh well, Im changing them as soon as I can get to my buddy's shop...

Both. But, I went out and checked the odometer and got a P00302. I looked it up and it means "misfire on cylinder number 2."
Thisis bad news, but now I at least I nowknow whats the matter... Can this be fixed easily or should I take to a mechanic?

yeah all that means is either sparkplug is bad, wire is bad or coil is bad.
and trust me its good news when its something like that
