Automatic Transmission
Does anyone know some information about the Neons 4 speed automatic transmission? All I know is that it is a 4 speed and made in USA. Lol. Its kinda bad, I have the car for two years but i dono anything about the trany. Fill up this post.
Lucky mines a 4 speed automatic my 04 sxt and I have slight engine mods and mine mostly for show anyways . Shes fast enough for me its the driver mod that counts auto or 5speed . 4 speeds better than a 3 speed and never had any problems with my tranny after 3 yrs and now 91thousand miles om her still running awesome .

lol, well i'd take my three speed over a 4 speed anyday... and its not cuz its what i have (cough airwolf cough). Mainly because its proven to hold more power than the 4.

interesting... i guess that would make me a proud owner of a 3 speed neon.
There's a Supra that races at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway that's built by Virtual Works. The owner, Dana, is a friend of a buddy of mine so he knows a bit about the car. It's a twin turbo 6 cylinder pushing out about 1200 horse power (also his daily driver). He has I think a 3 speed Chevy power glide automatic transmission in it. It runs high 8's. Automatic transmissions aren't bad at all.
How many speeds doesn't really matter. If your car goes 120 and you have a 3-speed 1st will probably go to 40, 2nd to 80 and 3rd to 120. 4-speed will probably go to 30, 2nd to 60, 3rd to 90, 4th to 120. Just means more time is spend shifting with more gears. Also means different amounts of time in different RPM's and different power bands.

Huh...comparing a 1200whp Supra with a race built Chevy transmission to a 110whp Neon with a Chrysler transmission made for fuel economy definitely make sense.
