Hey everybody,
a recent problem developed in my 05' Neon, Auto, 70K.
Turn the key to start, everything turns over, but no start. Stop, than try again...several times, no start and no kick. After the first time, I listen for and hear the fuel pump start/stop before I crank the second time. After about 6 times of on/off cranking, car starts, stumbles a little until I give it a bit of gas, than it runs fine. Starts fine for the next few days, than the same thing happened again today. I was thinking it might be the anti-theft (Sentry)system not shutting down when I insert key into ignition. I mentioned this to Dealership, but they said if that was the problem, the car would start fine, than simply just shut down.
I can't get to dealership for 2 weeks (they're too busy)!
Anybody experience this or have any suggestions?

yes i have experienced this problem as well.......my car seems to give me trouble starting at times and it only has 42k on it....its a 04 MTX and usually does this to me when the weather is really really hot...stumbles until i give it gas just like you said...

But my car is trying to turn over when i turn the key....dont remember if you said yours was trying or not...mine does try and usually on the 3rd or 4th time it starts

 

Yes,
my engine cranks, but nary a kick[:@]. It doesn't matter what the weather is like, it's being fussy at no particular time!
