Brake Problem - Proportioning Valve
On A 2000 Dodge Neon:
Yesterday when driving the rear wheel locks up on me. I take the rear drum off to find the brake pads had come off their shoes and locked up the wheel. So I change out the rear drum brakes, brake harware, and wheel cylinders, after bleeding the rear brakes I still have a brake pedal going to the floor. So I look closer at the master cylinder trying to figure out if it is bad, and I see that brake fluid has been leaking from it. So I get a new master cylinder, I go to change out the master cylinder and take off the proportioning valves. I inspect the proportioning values, and find that one of the valves had fallen apart and it was the proportioning valve to that wheel that locked up. What I am thinking is that the bad proporting valve locked up the rear wheels too much and messed up the rear brakes, and now after changing the rear brakes, will not let me bleed the brakes correctly causing the excessive pedal travel and the spongy brakes. Can anyone confirm my belief?
Thanks
