Neon losing power...? sits for three days and wont start??
well heres the deal...i have a system in my neon...not to big...but the other day going to work...the lights dimmed...and i seen a great big spark by the amps...and thensmelled smoke...it was one of the amps that was smoking...cut the radio off...car rode fine...came home...let it sit for three to four days(driving my rumblebee) and now she woint turn over...lights come on barely...so i jump her...and she starts...without a hitch...and didnt take much...(the tach and speedo went from all the way down to all the way up...and back down again...whatever that means)...so i shut it off...started her right back up...no probs...went in the house for a few hrs...came out wont start...all lights work...power windows barely...but wont turn over...but the display where the odometer reads says 'fuses'...can someone help??
thanks!
thanks!
may have a short in the system! other than that, the symptoms are of a dead battery, that's all, check the battery and the charge system (altornator, cables, etc.) and disconnect all power draws for the system and see what happenes
he said its only been sitting for a couple of days.. i dont think it could be the battery. i can see if it was sitting for months, cuz it happen to my brother honda civic cuz he bought a new truck and he had to replace the battery cuz it went dead.
something can be constantly drawling power (a short or a light) and it can drain it in a matter of a few hours. and yes it is the battery losing its charge! It happened to me like 2 weeks ago. dim lights, no start, guages going funky, and the 'fuse' being displayed in the OD.
thanks. (dont listen to slyrby something is drawling power from the batt.)
