Iv`e been told that the cambelt tensioners on the 2002 R/T `s can wear out causing the engine to sound rough.
They`re hydraulic on these cars and iv`e also been told you can get a mechanical tensioner that will fit direct on, is this the 2004 type tensioner? Is it the same Tensioner for all cars?

 

I'm almost certain the 2004 is a mechanical tensioner... Never seen one other than the info from here: http://chronoscender.freeservers.com...imingbelt.html

All 03+ Neons have a mechanical timing belt tensioner.
