Default clutch install

gonna be upgrading my clutch soon before i turbo so it doesnt die on me trying to get an idea of how much of a pain it would be to do myself am i better off paying for it to be done at a shop?

on a scale 1 - 10 1 being easy and 10 being kill yourself hard how hard is it to do yourself?

also time wise are we looking at 5 hours or what?

The way I look at it...well cars are just metal and bolts. Its just a matter of time and finding the right ones to unscrew. If you found it online somewhere I'm sure you could do it. I think the hardest part would be the fitting. I think there is some special stuff you have to do...idk. Maybe you can find it online somewhere and save a couple hundred.

I just had my clutch replaced a couple thousand miles ago. I would definitely take it to a shop, it would take a pretty tremendous amount of time and work to do. You have to drain the tranny and drop it out. I'll tell you one thing it ain't no five hour job, not even for a shop. I paid 750 and i got two tie rod ends installed in addition to the clutch. Which btw that's about 200 lower than anyone else offered. One advantage about neons tho is that the clutch and flywheel are already built into the same part, so you don't mess with reshaping the flywheel or anything. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I'm not sure if you're getting a performance clutch or not, but i think the OEM part costs only like $70.

I think I saw somewhere that the OEM parts are around $150. Mechanics can probably get them cheaper though.
