So I'm shopping around for a car and all the used lots by me and selling cars with 70-100,000+ miles on them for $4,000+ and they are not anything special...ford escort here, chevy caviler there WTF....example 1998 VW jetta, automatic, manual everything, sunroof, the rear window doesn't roll down and the weather strippings falling off, the paint its all chipped and dented and it has 92,xxx miles and they want $3,800....one place had a 2000 ford focus hatch with 120,000 miles and wanted $6,500 for those prices i'm better off forking over another 5 g's or so and getting a SRT-4

 

yeah that's how it is around here. cars are PIECES OF **** and they're asking 3,000 like it's nothing

 

granted I have money saved up but not to go blow it all on one car

 

Bullsh*t, thats what they want out here too, but I went online and found my Neon out of town for much cheaper than what they charge in town. Everytime I did a used car search on yahoo, I found the best deals about 45 mins away. Mine was 1hr away so I drove out to test drive it (since I wanted it so bad I could taste it) and the next day I closed the deal with my bank and had the dealer deliver it for me on a flat bed.

 

Lots are one of the biggest rip offs, unless you know the people. Just look through craigslist or autotrader, private party is usually the cheapest.

selling a neon is even harder than buying one. remember that as you purchase it.

 

I remember when I first got mine, I went to the car wash to clean her up and when I started takin pics, someone walked up wondering if it was for sale. I hope it will be that easy if it ever came down to selling it one day!
