I have a 2000 with 77k miles. Just recently, I'd say within the past month or so, whenever I accelerate from a stop, the small red "PARKING BRAKE" light on my consol lights up and dings. Usually always does it and only sometimes does it when I shift into and accelerate from 2nd gear. It's ****ing annoying as all hell and I have no idea what I could do to stop it. Any help?!?!

 

check your brake fluid level... gotta rule out the most obvious first.

Oh ok, I didn't even know that low brake fluid would throw that light. I'll check

had the same problem in a non neon car and it turned out that my brake fluid was really low and and when i hit a bump the fluid level sensor would cause the light to come on and ding. then one day the light came on and never went off, thats when i figured out to add brake fluid and it went off.
