Default few probs with buddys 2nd gen...

Hey guys normally im in the 1st gen but for my buddys sake im crossing the line into your territory and unknown waters... He just bought a 01 R/T That after I took it out for a real drive, (hes a pansy driver) billows white smoke when getting on it in first and second gear and is lacking power across the board. Couldent even get it to go past 80 mph on the hyway, was in 4th and wouldent go past 5000 rpm and when i switched to 5th just to see it still wouldent move. Hell my 1st gen has so much more get up and go its not funny. I pulled all 4 spark plugs and theres a tad bit of oil on them but not dripping soaking wet just the treads, however they do have a white tip on the conductor. They were all gaped from .40 to .47 witch to me sounds like way to much. I was thinking it was the rings however I thought that was black smoke. But who knows I cant remember. Any thoughts would be awsome. thanks guys in advance.

Any overheating issues? If I remember right white smoke is usually a head gasket problem because its allowing coolant into the combustion chamber itself...

make sure it is white smoke, not blue smoke. blue smoke looks like white smoke only with alittle gray in it. this would mean there is way too much oil in the system. check it out. if there's too much oil, give it an oilchange

happened to my friends honda

if it IS white smoke then it's head gasket

So I'm guessing that I'm going to have to do a compresstion test to find out if the head gasket is blown, what psi and what percentage am I looking for??? Also The car is at 97000 miles anything else the second gen needs at 100000 miles? Timing belt water pump? Is there a how to on the head gasket???

but yes, water pump and timing belt will need to be done if it hasnt been done within the last 75000 miles

also new plugs, wires, oil change, possibly a coil pack.
