First Car, First Dodge, Is there a problem?
Hi Everyone,
I purchased a 2004 Black Dodge Neon Auto SXT w/ Sport Appearance Group 73,000 Miles. Anyways i bought the car as my first about two Tuesdays ago. I did not notice it on the test drive but i have a question. When i start the car cold and the idle is up high my car vibrates slightly under the seats and at the steering wheel. Once the idle goes down it stops. But once i shift into drive of reverse but have the brake on such as at a stoplight the vibrations come back. At first i figured it was normal for an older car but after drivingmy sister's 2000 Honda CRV with 120,000 on the clock with no such symptoms i got worried. My first thought was the worse oh no a broken engine mount.Thank god i bought a warranty... So is this normal or do i need to go complain at the dealer. What is gonna **** me off is supposedly it passed a 120 point inspection so any thoughts? Also it looks like the fluid in the tranny needs replacement should they have replaced it? Thanks in advanced!

Should i go to the dealer and complain then because i am not putting any money in it right now specially since its just bought from Mac Haik Dodge Chrysler Jeep. I got a warranty and supposedly they did their dumb 120 point check which they would have noticed the problems. Its not that bad but i dont want it to esculate into a big problem.
you could try by going and telling them it has a rough idle, and tell them the symptoms. No garuntee that it will be covered by the warrantee as that is a normal service thing, or that they'll even aknowlege it as a problem.
I will call i suppose tomorrow and see what they say. Any other ideas? One thing though we have had the CRV for awhile and neglected it and its never been tuned up but runs better than my Neon. Is that just a japense thing?
Hmm. maybe i'll take a vid and see what yall think. I will call my dealer and see whats up. Any others?

the vibrating is probably normal. Its all in the idle and motor mount. The Civics may have a softer mount. Vibration usually isn't a problem. How high is a high idle for you? when you start your car it may go up to about 2000rpm and may be at around 1200 for a few minutes.
Thanks for the more reassuring answer. The idle starts around 1200RPM then goes down to about 900RPM i believe. I thought the vibrations may be normal but i am always worried when i first get something.
