Gas prices
Gas prices are half of the reason why I traded in my '04 Dodge Ram 1500 w/3.7L V6 for an '05 Dodge Neon 2.0L. My truck was getting 17mpg or so city and 22mpg hwy., from what I've read the Neon should get around 29mpg city and 36mpg hwy. That'll save me a lot of money in gas right there. Also, I think the Neon is as quick if not quicker then the truck. I fixed up the truck a bit(well, all I could do to a 3.7L since there's not much After Market for it) and it was peppy but that little Neon really pulls good when you get above 4K rpm all the way to 6K, which is where I shift at. No reason to hit the rev limiter, which is what, 6.5K rpm. Anyway, I'm going to do some simple mods to the Neon. I've already put a FlowMaster 50 Delta, 2.25" in/out and a nice looking tip and I've taken off the resonator in the fender and put a simple open tube into the fender about 8" so it'll pull cold air. Tomorrow I'll put in a K&N drop in into the box and a set of Bosch +2 Plat. plugs. That should be a decent start. Next I'd like to put a Hurst short shifter in and get a LSD Diff and Stage 3 Clutch set-up. Also, I'd like to put a decent sway bar set-up on the car. It has a front one but no rear and it really rolls more then I like thru the corners. Anyway, didn't mean to run on so much but the bottom line is that I'm going to really love the gas mileage that I'll be getting from my Neon.
P.S.
Gas prices are around $2.99/9 for 87. Generally I'll run 89 though, it's just a few cents more and I think my vehicals run better on it.

now $20 gets me a couple hairs shy of 3/4 tank.
DAMN! My 22mpg neon is dying with these $3/gallon
