Whats the best way to scuff them up? Fine grit sand paper?

bingo, or steel wool

 

Fine grit wetsanded.....or wet steel wool. Either way it's plastic, so use soap and water. MAKE SURE YOU DO IT. Please, it's super vital. my paint is already chipping off on the pillars becuase i didn't scuff them at all
