I currently own a 2000 Neon with a 2.0/automatic. I just bought a 1995 Neon with a 2.0/automaticand was wondering what parts will interchange parts-wise from the 95 to the 2000? I am talking more about engine components, but any info would be appreciated! I do realize that the 95 is a first gen and the 00 is a second generation...but I am sure many parts like alternators/wiper motors/coils/etc will interchange...
Anyone make me a list?

is the 95 a sohc or dohc?

if its sohc u can prob use the internals of the engine like pistons, rods, cams, valve springs.
The electrical stuff is prob not usable since the pcm are differnt so sensors are porb different.

 

If is a SOHC you can use the Crank, Piston's, Rod's and vavle lashing from the head but as for part's such as lifter's and riser's from the head are useless. The head on that motor is completely different from the second gen. As for a back up motor I would take the 95' build it and keep it on reserve and then swap it.

 

i know for sure the battery is the same.

 

The engine is the same so long as the 95 is SOHC, even if it is DOHC the parts are still completely interchangeable with the exception of most sensor.
