Except a triple layer Blu-Ray disc can still hold more then a triple layer HD-DVD. Hell, TDK and a few others alrready have a 100GB recoradable Blu-Ray disc and a prototype 8-layer 200GB Blu-Ray disc on the way. In any case, whichever format wins, it will only be around for a decade before tyeh next big storage system comes out, which will probably be HVD's that can hold nearly 4TB of information currently...
i'm almost positive Blue-rays are double layered... I also heard sony is working on an 8 layered disc, making the current players absolete as well (HD-DVD players if moved to 3 layer).
what is the point of having all that space on a disc anyway? just give me an awesome picture and i'll be happy. thats just me though, i could care less how much space they have lol

the more space they have the more info about the picture they can store and the more awesome your picture will look.
