Default Check Engine Light

Is it true that the AFX (performance upgrade) computer will eliminate the check engine light caused by the O2 sensor.

In this case, the check engine light came on because of performance upgrades (AEM CAI, exhaust, etc.).

Part of the Description of the AFX Computer:

A/FX computers have the ability to adapt to new modifications as you make them. Add a new cam, drive at part-throttle for a few dozen miles, and (((((the computer will learn the engine's revised airflow characteristics))))). Then, even at W.O.T. (in open-loop mode), the fuel-air mixture will be right on. Result: maximum power, you go fast. With no loss of fuel economy or driveability!

Like I said, the problem with my check engine light is the O2 sensor. I believe that comes from the mods (mainly the exhaust).

That description means it is supposed to correct that o2 sensor problem right? If it's supposed to correct the check engine problem, the description is crap.

My light comes on every day.

Has anyone purchased the AFX Down Stream O2 Sensor Eliminator 1999 to 2001? Do they really work for this particular problem?

If the part goes bad its going to toss a CEL. The AF/X ignores it normally but if the sensor truly goes bad and throws a code then it's going to set of the CEL.

I've heard it works but its flakey. It'll work for a while then not.

I've had my AF/X for 4 years and its thrown the code when the O2 sensor was bad. Other than that I don't get too many codes.
